img Step 1

Complete 60 Hours of approved Pre-Licensing education

Successfully complete an approved 60 clock-hour Pre-Licensing course with 30 hours of principles of real estate and 30 hours of Kansas practice courses.

Pass the course final exam.

After you complete all the course materials, meet the minimum time requirement, and pass the practice exam, you must pass a course final exam. The minimum passing score is 90%.

Complete the background check requirement

Next, you must submit a set of fingerprints to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. This is for the purpose of conducting a Kansas and national fingerprint-based, criminal history background check, utilizing records of the KBI and the FBI

Pass the Kansas Real Estate Examination

Pearson VUE administers the Kansas real estate licensing exam. This 140-question test is comprised of two portions, covering both general and state requirements. You will have 4 hours to complete the exam, 2.5 hours for the national portion and 1.5 hours for the Kansas portion

Choose a sponsoring broker

To be licensed, you must first be associated with a current and active Kansas sponsoring broker. It's important to find the right broker to work with since this person will serve as your mentor as you start your new career in real estate. Here are some questions to consider during your search: What is their reputation, both locally and nationally? What kind of real estate agents are they looking for? Are they technologically advanced and up-to-date with the latest systems? How do they support their agents with education and training? What kind of commission structure do they offer? Do they offer benefits? Do they provide their agents with leads and marketing material? Is there room to grow with the brokerage?
